Built from magenta tartan polyviscose with a cotton lining, genuine leather branding, metal hardware and a reinforced internal construction, this tote bag combines a bold tartan exterior with practical everyday storage.
The main compartment is secured with a full zip closure and includes an additional internal zipped pocket for smaller essentials.
With an internal capacity of approximately 12 litres, long shoulder handles and a structured reinforced body, it is designed as a practical everyday carry piece with a secure internal layout.
Design
The PROTOTYPE MAGENTA TARTAN BAG is built around a tall tote silhouette with a strong magenta tartan pattern running across the complete exterior.
The body is made from polyviscose tartan fabric, while the handles use the same outer material to keep the construction visually consistent.
A genuine leather ArtiFacture patch is positioned on the exterior and secured with metal rivets.
The magenta tartan is balanced by darker woven sections within the pattern, creating a bold colour combination while maintaining a clean and practical tote format.

PROTOTYPE MAGENTA TARTAN BAG was designed as a practical everyday tote with secure storage and a reinforced construction.
Its approximately 12 litre internal capacity provides useful space for everyday essentials, while the 31 cm handle drop allows the bag to sit comfortably over the shoulder.
The format works naturally for university, college, commuting, shopping, library trips, work essentials and everyday errands.
The main zip closure provides additional security for the central compartment, while the internal zipped pocket creates a separate space for smaller items.
The structured base and internal reinforcement help the bag retain its shape during regular use without making the construction unnecessarily rigid.
Construction
The complete bag is designed, cut and sewn in-house by ArtiFacture in the UK.
The outer body is constructed from polyviscose tartan.
Internally, the main body is reinforced using a combination of Fusible Interfacing and Decovil Light I.
This combination provides more structure and stability than the softer double interfacing construction used in the Red Tartan prototype.
The handles are made from the same polyviscose tartan fabric and reinforced internally with Fusible Interfacing.
A cotton lining finishes the interior and separates the reinforcement structure from the main compartment.
The genuine leather ArtiFacture patch is secured to the exterior with metal rivets.
The result is a structured textile tote that maintains a defined shape while remaining practical and comfortable for everyday carrying.
Main compartment
The main compartment provides approximately 12 litres of internal capacity.
The opening is secured with a zip measuring approximately 34 cm in length.
This allows the contents of the bag to remain more enclosed during everyday use while still providing straightforward access to the main storage area.
The cotton lining creates a clean internal finish and separates the contents of the bag from the structural reinforcement between the outer and lining layers.
Internal zipped pocket
Inside the bag is a separate zipped pocket measuring approximately:
19 cm wide x 18 cm high
The pocket provides dedicated storage for smaller items that may otherwise move around inside the main compartment.
It is suitable for everyday essentials such as keys, cards, earphones, small accessories or other items that benefit from a separate enclosed space.
The internal zip allows the pocket to be closed independently from the main compartment.
Closure
The PROTOTYPE MAGENTA TARTAN BAG uses a full zip closure across the main opening.
The zip measures approximately 34 cm and combines polyester tape with metal components.
Unlike the magnetic closure used on the Red Tartan prototype, this construction allows the main compartment to be fully closed.
A second zip is used for the internal pocket, creating an additional enclosed storage area within the bag.

The design also introduces a full zipped main compartment and a separate internal zipped pocket.
Future production versions may use revised construction details, dimensions, internal layouts or hardware as the Cut & Sewn range continues to develop.
